The memorial continues to collect material from all areas related to the Berlin Wall, its border fortifications, daily life and cultural responses to the Wall and the division, to escapes and emigration, the fall of the Wall and commemoration after 1990. The collections we receive come from both the public and private domain. We collect primarily:

  • Photographic and film material
  • Original artifacts
  • Documents
  • Maps and plans
  • Private possessions related to the Wall

An important part of our holdings come from private donations and can be permanently preserved for the future at the memorial. If you have material which you think may be useful for the historical and educational work of the memorial or which may serve to commemorate the Berlin Wall and the history of German division, please contact us directly so that we may discuss the possibilities.
